On Sunday we went to the Farmers Market in Hollywood then decided we’d drive down to Culver City and visit The Sensitive Baker, which is a Gluten-Free bakery. They have all sorts of goodies: cupcakes, cookies, breads, bagels, pizza dough, hamburger buns & during the weekday hours, they even offer lunch which ranges from their daily soups, to pizza & sandwiches. They have a large variety of vegan foods as well. When we walked in the lady who was working there (I’m going to guess she was the owner) offered our son, Aiden, a cookie but asked us first, which I thought was really cool. Aiden ate all of it except for the last few bites which he dropped because he was too busy wanting a cupcake that was on display!
We bought a cupcake to take home for Aiden & some hamburger buns for us to try out later that night. Ryan had made some home made avocado salsa & we thought the burgers topped with his salsa sounded like a good idea. Wow. Those buns were so good. They were very similar to sourdough bread. The only negative was that they were kind of small & we really wanted more! We also bought their pizza dough that we have yet to try… maybe later on this week.
Pretty cool place. They are also online, if you want to check them out: The Sensitive Baker
I’ll leave you with a picture of Aiden about to enjoy his cupcake!

So, as you know, Ryan was lucky enough to go to the Natural Health Expo. One of the goodies he brought back was from JustinsNutButter.com & they were individually wrapped nut butters. My favorite was the Maple Almond butter. I’m a huge fan of almond butter & this flavor was sooooo good. I loved the idea of the individual packets, especially for those with Celiac disease. There’s no need to worry about cross contamination, when I can give my son a packet and some gluten free crackers or some sliced organic apple slices for a snack on the go, while we’re out! You can also get them in a jar, the packets are just a great option, in my opinion! The flavors they offer are: Honey Peanut Butter, Cinnamon Peanut Butter, Classic Peanut Butter, Maple Almond Butter, Classic Almond Butter & Honey Almond Butter.

So, MrGlutenFree (otherwise known as my husband, Ryan) went to the Natural Health Expo in Anaheim, CA today… I didn’t get to go because I was at home with my boys, who happened to both have a cold!
Among the exciting exhibits was the owner of Pamela’s Products, Pamela! Not only was she extremely nice & helpful (& she also happens to make the most amazing Dark Chocolate cookies) but she gave him an entire plate of their cake in celebration of their 20th year anniversary! As soon as MrGlutenFree brought the plate home, Aiden & I devoured a piece of the chocolate & a piece of the vanilla. Gluten free or not, this cake is the best! I can’t wait for our family & friends to sample some at Aiden’s b’day party (which happens to be in May!)
Soon to come… MrGlutenFree’s take on the expo!

This is my 1st official post in the gluten free world of blogging. I’m not new to blogging but I am a little new to the gluten free living thing & I’m eager to combine the two. Both my 4 year old son, Aiden & my husband of 7 years, Ryan were diagnosed with Celiacs disease in December of 2007. Our entire house became gluten free after that. Right now I’m in the process of reorganizing my entire kitchen to allow easier access to baking & cooking. See, I have a newborn son & a four year old, so I don’t have a whole lot of time to mess around with trying to find things in a messy kitchen. Living a gluten free lifestyle means every single meal we consume gets made by myself or my husband. Not too hard, considering that I LOVE to cook & bake but a little difficult to find the time it takes to commit myself to trying new recipes. BUT- hopefully since I reorganized it all… my kitchen adventures will be easier to manage! Yay! So, with a new coat of paint (red, I might add) organized cupboards (thanks to oxo pop top containers!) & my shipment of numerous gluten free baking flours (thanks glutenfreemall.com!) on their way… we should be ready to rock & roll with some awesome gluten free meals! I’ve been cooking gluten free for a few months now but am ready to tackle the baking!
