While not good news, I am happy to hear that you are getting closer to a true diagnosis and hopefully a return to health for your son. Anna has her upper endoscopy scheduled for Dec 1 to check for Celiac and Crohn's so we'll see what happens. I did the Celiac genetic tests and she was found to have both genes, the Celiac gene and the Immune response or gluten sensitivity gene as well. I am anxious for the tests to be over :(

I think you are making a really good choice and your points are very well thought out. Too many parents, IMHO, expect teachers to make one students needs a priority when it's just not possible in a full class. As his mom, guardian, protector, advocate... you are the best choice for making sure he stays healthy in the years before he is equipped to make those decisions and take on the responsibility himself.

Good for you and good luck.

P.S. I found your blog at Twittermoms.

Now I know why you're twittering at all hours. Digestive disorders in children are the scariest - but your children are lucky that you guys are being so proactive (not to mention setting aweseome examples). I know some parents who aren't as proactive (let alone active) with their childrens' digestive issues. One of our son's friends has a brother who is pretty much allergic to everything - and pretty close to being anaphylatic to eggs. They make eggs every morning for breakfast for the rest of their children. They make me sad.

And the flax seed in the yogurt? I love it. I've being doing it for a few weeks now!

Thanks for sharing your experience. My husband and I don't have kids yet but we do have concerns about whether our children will have similar allergies as my husband.

Hi Lisa, Ryan must have found my blog somewhow added me on Twitter, so I checked out your blog. That's cool you're also sharing about your experience living/eating gluten-free. My husband has wheat allergies (does not have celiac disease) and we live in Shanghai currently. It's been pretty challenging keeping away from wheat/gluten because products don't always have labels. Very few people in China understand the implications of food allergies since not many people have allergies -- it's a developed country phenomenon, believe it or not.

Anyway, look forward to reading about your experiences.

I've been using the Desert Essence Red Grape Body Wash, and their Red Grape Shampoo and Red Grape Conditioner, I appreciate that they actually say on the label Vegan & Gluten Free- the shampoo and conditioner are surprisingly really good, my hair is softer and smells amazing!
